With a commanding voice and plenty of hooks, Caitlyn Eve is the latest female powerhouse rising on the Liverpool music scene and her newest single, Changing, shows just why.
‘Everything is changing’. Well things should all be changing in Caitlyn Eve’s direction if her latest release is anything to go by.
The single, Changing, is a superb follow-up to Scarlet that gained plenty of plaudits for its ability to take a relatively simple melodic hook and turn it into a piece of indie rock with few chords.
Changing isn’t massively dissimilar to Scarlet, and Caitlyn finds success with a similar formula of keeping things relatively simple with just two chords, but allowing her vocals and melody to shine through.
The artist told Mersey Music: “It sounds happy but if you listen to the lyrics, it’s actually about anxiety.”
Reciting some of the lyrics, she explained how “it’s quite a depressing song but it’s probably the happiest sounding song I’ve got and probably ever wrote.”
Caitlyn added: “The chorus sort of goes against it, though, and says ‘is it a bad thing if things are changing? Is it normal?’
“So it’s actually quite a meaningful song.”
Having taken in Caitlyn’s live shows, we can say there is no shortage of songs coming to keep people listening, and we’re excited to hear her next single due out in June.
