The Farm‘s frontman, Peter Hooton, sat down with Sam Millne of Mersey Music to discuss the band’s new single, ‘Feel The Love‘.
After a successful summer playing festivals across the country, The Farm have released ‘Feel The Love’, a track originally destined to come out just before the coronavirus pandemic.
The band, whose hits include ‘All Together Now’ and ‘Groovy Train’, have their original songwriting team back together and frontman Hooton thinks they will remind people that they “haven’t gone away.”
He said: “It’s gone down absolutely brilliantly, the reaction we’ve had.
“It’s a song we recorded a few years ago but, since the lockdown, we decided that all these songs that we’ve had in the last two or three years, we’d get them out onto streaming platforms.
“We thought, they’re just sitting there, let’s get them out.”
The lead vocalist also went on to lay out the plans for releases in the short-term.
“We’re going to release a single every month to six weeks for the foreseeable future because we’ve got about seven or eight songs ready to go really,” Hooton added.
“These were written over the last five years, but obviously with lockdown I took two years out of it.
“We’ve always wanted to release stuff but I think it’s a confidence thing. We started playing these at festivals this year and they were going down great; they were going down nearly as good as our hits.
“So, we thought ‘let’s get them out then’.
“Some of the stuff that’s come up, we’re really pleased with it and I think it’s going to surprise a few people.”
Though released at the end of summer, like some of The Farm’s earlier music, it suits the sunshine atmosphere of this hot September.
In terms of style, you could put it in the same bracket as ‘Groovy Train’, with a return to brass and keyboard combinations proving nostalgic.
