Reignmaker EP review & headliner announced

Fast-rising Liverpool band Reignmaker have released their first debut EP and they’re to follow it up in style, this November.

There are five tracks on the We Go Round EP, though one, Interlude, is just 46 seconds long.

Two of their previously released tracks, Find My Own Way and Stay Behind, make the cut but their most popular song – by Spotify streams anyway – has been excluded.

The decision to leave Hope I’m Not Alone out, as well as the inclusion of Interlude, is a sign of the band’s confidence in their music and its audience.

Reignmaker are a dynamic group of five Merseysiders who very much have their feet on the ground, despite their clear musical and songwriting talent.

Their melodies could almost be compared to a classic Britpop style but there is a difference in their sound.

They’re heavier, moodier even, than the likes of Oasis and The Stone Roses.

You especially get a feeling for this when seeing them live.

The lead guitar takes precedence and the band is noisy

While their previous releases are melody-led, in the song We Go Round, frontman Jude Williams’ voice acts at times as a harmoniser to the music, as the song builds to a crescendo after a quieter start.

The blend of heavier rock and more catchy tunes is part of why they are growing; it allows them to be universally popular with people of different tastes.

Having already supported The Lathums, The Cheap Thrills and Jamie Webster, the band are set for their own headliner at Hangar 34 on November 4, 2023.
