With an opening reminiscent of This Charming Man by The Smiths and a chorus similar to Sally Cinnamon by The Stone Roses, the inspiration for Stanleys’ new single sways more to the Mancunian east of their home town, Wigan, than to Merseyside.
You (Just Looked Right Through Me) is the third track to be released from the band’s upcoming EP, Time Waits For No One, which is set to come out in November.
The song wastes no time getting started, hitting the first beat with an acoustic guitar strumming pattern that repeats throughout the tune before the lead’s first hook provides a segway into the vocals provided by Tom Concannon.

Adding to the Manchester feel, the group included a subtle synth line in an ode to the city’s 90s music scene.
The lyrics are heavier than some of the Stanleys’ earlier singles, hitting harder when talking about life’s struggles. This song talks about the tribulations of a youngster trying to make his way through life with little success.
The chorus, though melancholic in its lyrics, has simple words and carries a melody easy for singing along to.
Stanleys come into the autumn on the back of a fantastic set at Neighbourhood Festival’s Manchester City Centre event.
They are set for a tour in November that will arrive at EBGBs in Liverpool on Friday, November 11, as well as visiting Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield, Birmingham and London before a homecoming show in Wigan.
You (Just Looked Right Through Me) is set for release tomorrow, on October 28. For everything you need to know, visit their website here
